My career commenced with Siemens Southern Africa, where I progressed through a range of commercial, financial, operational and executive leadership roles.
At age 21, I was appointed Commercial Manager for the electrical and mechanical components of the Huguenot Tunnel project, one of South Africa's most significant infrastructure developments of the time.
In 1990, Siemens selected me to participate in the prestigious Regionale Ausland (RA) leadership development programme at Siemens AG in Germany, providing international exposure to business leadership, management systems and cross-cultural operations.
Over the following decade, I have been fortunate to hold increasingly senior responsibilities........including Finance & Administration Manager, Commercial Manager and ultimately Regional Managing Director. My portfolio spanned electrical contracting, infrastructure development, airport systems, electronic security, commercial management and regional business operations.
Notable appointments included serving as Siemens' representative on the Joint Venture Board for the Columbus Stainless Steel Project, one of South Africa's largest industrial developments, and leading the establishment of Siemens' Eastern Cape operations following the creation of the province in 1997.
I subsequently chaired the Abase Monti Joint Venture in East London, responsible for municipal electrical infrastructure, prepayment metering and revenue management services, while also helping establish the Umthiza Joint Venture in Mthatha, which delivered infrastructure maintenance and municipal revenue management solutions over a five-year period.
Following my voluntary departure from Siemens in 2000, I have pursued an independent consulting and entrepreneurial path.
My work has included business development and due diligence assignments throughout Southern Africa, including the Democratic Republic of Congo, supporting the establishment and growth of sustainable business ventures.
As a co-owner of ITO Focus Buffalo City, ITO Focus Technology East London, ITO Focus ABET, Eastern Cape; and later founder of PBDS Consulting, I expanded my passion and involvement involvement in organisational development, human capital, business planning, leadership development and performance improvement across a diverse client base.
Between 2009 and 2015, I have broadened my interests and expertise into Human Resources, Human Capital Management, as well as Operations Management through numerous successful OD & consulting engagements; engaging with international NGOs, and including commitments with SA Partners and the Fred Hollows Foundation.
My work with SA Partners, a US-funded public health organisation operating through PEPFAR, CDC and South African Government partnerships, exposed me to large-scale donor-funded programmes, governance, compliance, workforce management and organisational effectiveness. I have also been fortunate to contribute to the establishment of the Masibumbane Development Organisation, supporting early childhood and youth development initiatives.
In 2015, I then joined SA Partners full-time on contract - as HR & Operations Manager, helping guide organisational growth, workforce management and operational expansion during a period of significant development, with the relocation of the organisation's head office to Johannesburg.
Over the past two decades, my passion has led me to the fortunate position, in which I have worked extensively with multinational corporations, government departments, municipalities, state-owned entities, NGOs, educational institutions and private businesses. My expertise spans strategic human capital management, organisational development, workforce planning, leadership development, governance, business transformation, performance improvement and capability building.
Today, I combines executive business leadership experience with practical human capital and organisational effectiveness expertise to help organisations align strategy, structure, culture, people and performance. My approach is grounded in collaboration, humility, practical implementation and a genuine passion for helping leaders, teams and organisations achieve sustainable success.
