Border Cricket and Border Bears (Pty) Ltd enlisted the services of Donald in the strategy, business planning and compilation of one of the cricket franchises on offer from Cricket South Africa, at the time. Donald proved to be a valuable contributor drafting a business plan to Border Cricket who tendered for the franchise, together with Easter Province Cricket. The Franchise was won in 2005 and went on to become the Warriors Cricket franchise entity and team.

Mr. Hjul was the first appointee into this level of position, whilst having a Commercial background in a traditionally engineering-based organization.
His command of leadership, management, and Organizational & Business Development acumen was considered to be at the highest level.
Mr. Hjul served in this position for a period of just over 3 years between October 1997 and December 2000, there-after electing to leave the company to pursue his independent career.
It must also be stated that during the period March 2002 to February 2OO3; I again had the pleasure, as the Director responsible for Regional Strategy in Southern Africa, to oversee Mr. Hjul's business development work as a consultant in the DR Congo.
